Frequently asked questions

The short answers. For anything else, get in touch.

Are the assets really free?

Yes. We only list assets that are free to download and use. Many are free for commercial projects too, but licenses vary by author — always check the license noted on the asset and on the author's site before shipping.

Can I use these in commercial work?

Often, but not always. Each asset keeps its author's license. We show what we know and link to the original so you can confirm the exact terms for your use case.

Where do I download an asset?

Most downloads happen on the author's own website — we link straight to the source so creators keep their traffic and credit. Some assets are hosted directly on The Base when the license allows it.

Do I need an account?

No. Browsing and downloading are open to everyone. Signing in only unlocks extras like saving favorites and submitting freebies.

How do you choose what to list?

We curate. Assets must be genuine packs (for example, a full icon set rather than a single icon), have a preview that reads well on a dark UI, and come from a source we can attribute and link back to.

Can I submit my own freebie?

Please do. Use the Submit page to send us a link. We review every submission before it goes live, and we only publish assets that are legally free to share.

I'm an author and want an asset removed. What now?

Reach out via our contact page with the link and we'll take it down promptly. We list link-only assets to send you traffic, never to replace your site.
